Kimric gets his bearings.

Eric: Newest member and donator made several aluminum jack shaft posts 3/13

Wheel is on the spindle, which is on the frame member and sitting in approximate position.

Joe tap dance.
10/4/10 - Shannon brought over a 54" iron wheel that was the perfect size and not too heavy at 63 lbs each. They need sand blasting and tire tread. These wheels save a lot of time and can be replaced with lighter wheels in the future.

2/7/11: A few days ago Victor made these plates to attach the wheels to the axle. A picture is coming of Victor. I left it at home.

1" Solid steel axles, 54" wheels. They don't look strong enough to me. I want to go on record predicting catastrophic failure of the hub, which of course will simply mean the rebirth of something wonderful.

We cleaned the wheels, straightened the spokes, painted them, attached them to the axle and wheeled it over to the Shipyard for show and tell.

Feb 11 -13: Shannon, Kathy, Vicki, and I drove to Ferndale and met Brian, the Funguy. Here's one thing he had to say.

So, our idea of using a differential is out the window. Start over. Back to the drawing board.

Feb 15. Made frame to dimensions determined by the lengths of the metal we had laying around. Last night, Valentines Day, we changed the toilet in the upstairs bathroom.
This is the first video with Sony A33 and steady cam.
Sunday: 3/6/11 Restored Front wheels. See them in the back ground. Cut and installed axles and jack shafts. The sprockets are way too heavy. We need to blast big holes in them with the plasma cutter. That should be fun.
The bearings for the front wheels came in. The front wheels are off an antique wheel barrow and were covered with cement. Metric bearings just happened to fit.
