We arrived Monday night at midnight and camped on 8 and A st., which was one block from the esplanade.

I thought the eclipse was Monday night so we sat up waiting for it for a long time.

The next night was the eclipse. Again we sat up waiting for it. When the eclipse was total, as I remember, the the man lit on fire. There was pandemonium in the streets. Many police and several fire trucks appeared out of no where.

The next morning they removed the burned man and in about two days replaced him with a new one. I've read that the remade him from spare parts. But it seemed as if they had extras made in China.

We brought weights this year as well as the couch and the trailer. The trailer hitch was almost scraping the ground.
